It’s so important to go to a vet that specializes in this particular breed, I can’t stress this enough. A lot of vets aren’t great with this breed which will end up costing you more and could affect the health of your frenchie. Unfortunately some vets see this breed and take advantage of the families that own them. Some pet families can be overly nervous about owning a frenchie, a bad vet will prey on that, run whatever unnecessary tests they ask for and even preform unnecessary surgeries 😳 A good vet that specializes in this breed will educate you, reassure you and only do conservative and necessary treatments. If you have a pup from us and are questioning any treatments or advice a vet is suggesting feel free to run it past us, we can give you our honest opinion.
We will do what we can to help you find a good vet in your area. Tip: French Bulldog breeders usually know where the best bulldog vets are, ask them what vet they use.
🚩 Vet red flags. If your vet is recommending nose/nare or pallet surgery when you bring in your new puppy you might want to try a different vet. Breathing surgeries should only be discussed when your baby is fully grown and IF they are having difficulty breathing. Some vets will push these surgeries on all frenchies, surgeries in our opinion should only be done when they are needed. If your vet doesn’t understand the differences Chondrodysplasic breeds face compared to non Chondrodysplasic breeds I would find one that does. Again if you have one of our babies reach out to us for any advice/recommendations we are always here.
